In May I completed a third purge, sort and Staging on the main floor of our family's cottage on Keats Island. Although it was an incredible challenge, I am really pleased with the results. The cottage has been in my family for over 40 years and become the resting place for the collective family's unwanted stuff. Dad is a collector/inventor and has a difficult time throwing anything away. He looks at something and sees possibility in everything! It gradually got out of control, felt overwhelming and no longer like a retreat. So with my parents blessing, I got to work... Learn more...
For those who do not know, Keats Island is on the Sunshine Coast; 10 minutes by boat from Gibson's Landing.
"Mission: To help as many people in our lifetimes as we can...especially children!"
Dr. James Whillans and Dr. Nicole Barbary of Lifeworks Family Chiropractic in Kelowna hired me to do another makeover in their busy office reception room. As with any work space, function is number one, but as I've learned after doing several business makeovers, the ambiance is also very important to a successful outcome. How people "feel" when they enter a space of healing is key to making a shift in their mood to help them relax before an adjustment. Learn more...
From Drab to Fab!
My good friend Connie Baker and I had a wonderful adventure this fall putting together her new business venture, Sweet Elegance Floral Design in Lake Country, BC. We are long time business partners through our association in Home ReDesign, Staging and as Colour Specialists. Connie took the plunge this summer and received certification in Floral Design in Toronto, ON...
...This small space was dull and drab so she chose a cheerful wall colour to activate, motivate and inspire her to make her beautiful and unique custom floral arrangements. We shopped and selected gently used, one of a kind storage units, mantle and the functional counter at Habitat for Humanity. These pieces can easily be relocated as she grows and expands her business. I am so proud of Connie and my part in making her new dream come true!
A Master Bedroom fit for a Queen!
Patti is a busy professional woman who works many hours a week helping others heal in her job as an office manager in the healthcare industry. At the end of a busy day, she was feeling drained and uninspired by her master bedroom so she asked for my help. After a discovery session we learned that she was willing to let go of her past and move toward her more grown up sophisticated self. I'm sharing these updated photos of my office makeover. I completed and installed my London shade (variation of a Roman) and I love it! It really adds to the feminine feel of the space and because it's lined it will help block the sun when I'm typing. It wasn't difficult to make except for a bit of math (not my genius). Let me know what you think!
I recently painted my home office and used the same tools I created for my clients to select the right paint colour. Prior to painting and a recent makeover, my own office had become disorganized, chaotic and no longer an environment I wanted to be in. I found myself working anywhere but there! I hated the colour but had not yet re-painted my upper floor. I had paid attention to the rest of my home but ignored the "economic engine" that was supposed to be a place to create and inspire me!
Last year, I noticed that my clients' home offices were also ignored so I created a new Mo' Money Office Makeover package and the results were amazing. I too wanted a theme that would inspire me to create additional growth and abundance in my business. It also didn't feel authentic to sell something that I didn't even have so I created the time and space in my calendar to "get 'er done"!
Before painting I used the same tools I created for my clients and during an "Intuitive exploration session" I envisioned a new feel and colour for my office space – feminine, strength, happy, vibrant, family, blue and lively were a few words I came up with. I love butterflies as they represent change and new beginnings - exactly what I want to create for myself and my clients!
One of the most important values I have is the love of family. I had a few treasured items from my grandparents in my office space and I found more goodies when I hunted in my crawl space. I found a set of plaques that read, "faith, hope and love" that I had purchased but not yet used. I realized that this phrase said it all and it became my "office mantra".
My heirlooms were treasures but the dark wall unit I have made them disappear and seem more oppressive than decorative. So while the paint was drying, I went shopping for new lighting and accessories. I found some word art and new glass hurricanes that had the same feel as my heirlooms but lightened things up and added a pop of colour. I used almost everything that I already had and created a wall art display by placing decorative card stock in some existing white frames. It was so much fun and very exciting to see the end result. Now I work in a space that truly honours my past, present and what I want for my future - and I’m enveloped in a colour that excites and rejuvenates my spirit! Learn more...

Meaghan Alton is a growth strategist and has a home office in West Kelowna. We met through Kelowna Women in Business and have since established a close friendship and business relationship. During our initial exploration session I helped Meaghan create a vision for her new office space. She loves to travel and felt that a Costa Rican theme would inspire her to create additional growth and abundance in her business. She has a wooden plaque that reads, "Pura Vida" which translates to Pure Life. While shopping for lighting and accessories I kept this vision in mind. In the session, Meaghan also established key words to help me - light, flowy, and airy were a few. I believe we created that feeling in amazing this Office ReDesign.
Homeowner testimonial: "I am so impressed by what you have done. My parents never opened the sheers and I didn't even notice the wonderful view from the living room and dining room...I'm regretting the lower asking price..."
