The purpose of a focal point is to draw the eye to the fireplace, bed, china
cabinet or other feature that deserves to shine. The focal point of a living room is usually determined by architectural features, most commonly the
fireplace. The only thing that trumps a fireplace is a spectacular view. Many homes do not have either of these features and a certified ReDesigner and Colour Consultant is trained to cure this decorating problem by creating a focal point with art or strategic colour blocking with paint. Alternately, if you are fortunate enough to have a picture window with a view of a lake, mountains or ocean, avoid a strong paint colour or
window treatment that will compete with the focal point - what lies beyond the window to the outdoors. It is also distracting to hang art beside the windows; stay with calmer, relaxing colours or simple blinds and drapery
instead. Click on the images below to view Bosha & Jamie's Great Room ReDesign presentation.
